What could a stripe symbolize?

okay im making this art work for english. we have to have some kind of quote that represent our drawing. i was gonna say "Life is the art of drawing without an eraser" but then when I was sketching it, I came up with a cooler statement about life "The best things in life are unseen, that’s why we close our eyes when we kiss, cry and dream" It is a cheery statement right but my picture is so different because it was originally for the first statement.

my picture is in drawn in pencil. I used a black paperboard so the sketch wont really be noticed so it’s perfect for the statement.

my problem is the picture itself. It is a guy sitting and kindra like crying and embracing himself. I’ve drawn his body with/in stripes of lines. I dont know what it means because I just copied it from the internet (i cant draw without a picture)

i dont want to do another one so what can i do about the picture? what could they possibley symbolize? and the chose of colour and the guy
help me please

those are profound statements, you should coin those phases.
they could represent blinds/ curtains, just add the strings.
