Hello Jean_Lore,
Both of these poems are good, from a writing standpoint.
The first one is filled with sadness and feelings of being deceived.
The second one exhibits fear and depression.
They’re both good poems in their own right, and it’s difficult to choose. But, I think I like the first
poem better, because of the unique choice of words you used. Whether or not it was intentional,
you showed a small feeling of hope…….hope for a change, a reversal of conditions.

SURAT AL MULK 67
1. Blessed be He in Whose hands is Dominion: and He over all things Hath Power―
2. He Who created Death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving―
3. He Who created the seven heavens one above another; no want of proportion wilt thou see in the Creation of (Allah) Most Gracious. so turn thy vision again: Seest thou any flaw?
4. Again turn thy vision a second time; (thy) vision will come back to thee dull and discomfited, in a state worn out.
5. And We have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire.
6. For those who reject their Lord (and Cherisher) is the Penalty of Hell: and evil is (such) destination.
7. When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath even as it blazes forth.
8. Almost bursting with fury: every time a Group is cast therein its Keepers will ask "Did no Warner come to you?"
9. They will say: "Yes indeed: a Warner did come to us, but we rejected him and said `Allah never sent down any (Message): ye are in nothing but an egregious delusion!’ "
10. They will further say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence we should not (now) be among the Companions of the Blazing Fire!"
11. They will then confess their sins: but far will be (Forgiveness) from the Companions of the Blazing Fire!
12. As for those who fear their Lord unseen for them is Forgiveness and a great Reward.
13. And whether ye hide your word or publish it, He certainly has (full) knowledge, of the secrets of (all) hearts.
14. Should He not know― He that created? And He is the One that understands the finest mysteries (and) is well-acquainted (with them).
15. It is He Who has made the earth manageable for you, so traverse ye through its tracts and enjoy of the Sustenance which He furnishes: but unto Him is the Resurrection.
16. Do ye feel secure that He Who is in heaven will not cause you to be swallowed up by the earth when it shakes (as in an earthquake)?
17. Or do ye feel secure that He Who is in Heaven will not send against you a violent tornado (with showers of stones), so that ye shall know how (terrible) was My warning?
18. But indeed men before them rejected (My warning): then how (terrible) was My rejection (of them)?
19. Do they not observe the birds above them, spreading their wings and folding them in? None can uphold them except (Allah) Most Gracious: truly it is He that watches over all things.
20. Nay, who is there that can help you, (even as) an army, besides (Allah) Most Merciful? In nothing but delusion are the Unbelievers.
21. Or who is there that can provide you with Sustenance if He were to withhold His provision? Nay, they obstinately persist in insolent impiety and flight (from the Truth).
22. Is then one who walks headlong, with his face grovelling, better guided― or one who walks evenly on a Straight Way?
23. Say: "It is He Who has created you (and made you grow) and made for you the faculties of hearing, seeing, and understanding: little thanks it is ye give."
24. Say: "It is He Who has multiplied you through the earth, and to Him shall ye be gathered together."
25. They ask: When will this promise be (fulfilled)? If ye are telling the truth.
26. Say: "As to the knowledge of the time, it is with Allah alone: I am (sent) only to warn plainly in public."
27. At length, when they see it close at hand, grieved will be the faces of the Unbelievers, and it will be said (to them): "This is (the promise fulfilled) which ye were calling for!"
28. Say: "See ye?― If Allah were to destroy me, and those with me, or if He bestows His Mercy on us― yet who can deliver the Unbelievers from a grievous Penalty?"
29. Say: "He is (Allah) Most Gracious: we have believed in Him, and on Him have we put our trust: so soon will ye know which (of us) it is that is in manifest error."
30. Say: "See ye?― If your stream be some morning lost (in the underground earth), who then can supply you with clear-flowing water?"

Peace

Allah SWT (God) says in Quran:-

And they say: "OUR HEARTS ARE UNDER COVERINGS (screened) from that to WHICH YOU INVITE US; and in OUR EARS is DEAFNESS, and between US and YOU is a screen: so WORK YOU (on YOUr WAY); verily, we ARE WORKING (on OUR WAY)."
( سورة فصلت , Fussilat, Chapter #41, Verse #5)

And OF Them There ARE some who listen to you; BUT We have set veils on Their hearts, so They understand it not, and DEAFNESS in THEir ears; and even if They see every one OF THE Ayat (proofs, signs, revelations, etc.) They will not believe Therein; to THE point that when They come to you to argue with you, THE disbelievers say: "THESE ARE NOTHING BUT TALES OF THE MEN OF OLD."
( سورة الأنعام , Al-Anaam, Chapter #6, Verse #25)

As full of contradictions my answer might sound like, but GOD Almighty created both peace and war for us. I always say to my friends, if he (Adam) didn’t eat that darn apple, we wouldn’t be here today. GOD Almighty put us here on earth for trial, because Adam and Eve peace be upon them disobeyed Him, and really because He willed for them to disobey Him to cause us to be here today on earth. There is evil and there is good. You can choose to believe in GOD Almighty as the one and only One True Living GOD and King and do righteousness by avoiding as much as you honestly can the daily sinning, which in turn would help you be a very polite and sensitive person to your fellow humans, or you can choose to be an idol worshiper or a disbeliever, or a hypocrite who believes in GOD but relishes and thrives on doing everything that upsets Him.

GOD Almighty as I said created wars and peace:

Wars – "We sent aforetime Our messengers with clear signs and sent down them the Book and the Balance (of right and wrong), that men may stand forth in justice; and We sent down iron, in which is (material for) Mighty war, as well as many benefits for mankind, that Allah may test who it is that will help, unseen, Him and His messengers: For Allah is Full of strength, exalted in Might (And able to enforce His Will). (The Noble Quran, 57:25)"

Peace – "But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in God: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things). (The Noble Quran, 8:61)"

He created good and bad. Why did He create them, I don’t know for I am only a humble servant to Him. I can’t really speak on His behalf. This might sound contradicting and it is indeed, but this is how life is.

Unfortunately, the Western media either completely misunderstood Islam or intentionally tries its best to make Islam look bad. Take the "Jihad" example. Jihad in the West is considered something evil and scary, where in reality Jihad in Islam is fighting for the Cause of GOD Almighty in self-defense:

"Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loveth not transgressors. (The Noble Quran, 2:190)"

And Muslims should always praise peace and lean toward it whenever it is possible:

"But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in God: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things). (The Noble Quran, 8:61)"

"It may be that God will grant love (and friendship) between you and those whom ye (now) hold as enemies. For God has power (over all things); And God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. God forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for God loveth those who are just. God only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you for (your) Faith, and drive you out of your homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong. (The Noble Quran, 60:7-9)"

What is the deal with the bible? And the christian faith all together? It seems to me like the best opiate mankind has ever designed. It keeps people in control and gives those in power an air tight excuse when the worst happens. And an unflinching reason for the way things are ran. Think of say, 2000 years ago. People are uneducated, and information isn’t exactly readily available to the public. Your king says "hey guess what, there’s this thing called god and he’s all powerful so if anything goes wrong, it’s his fault. And I’m in charge because he said so. So when things go right, you can praise me and I’ll pass on the message" And why would I want a life where I couldn’t control anything. Where there’s always a "god" looking down onme, judging me and making things happen for me or against me. I guess what I’m asking is: Is there a religion for those who want to belive in life after death, but don’t want to be dominated by some unseen and unheard "god"?

I believe in God, but I think a good answer would be that people are full of fear and need to have purpose in their lives. Try to understand and be open minded to their needs and what in their lives sparked such desperate thinking. I don’t believe in having other people interpret the Bible for you, I have to agree with you on that. Half the Christians I know have never read the bible. Now that’s ignorant to me. I see your point, and I fear some of the consequences also. For example, most of my Christian friends believe anything Bush says because supposedly he’s a Christian. Personally I think he’s using it to get political gain from us Christians, just appealing to any majority he wants to get votes from.

I also don’t see how they witness as followers of Christ when they close their minds to other people’s opinions, or treat people that don’t believe what we believe with rudeness and apathy. It does not seem like Christ’s way to me. Also, I have to question the validating of selfish wealth and over-population. Many of my fellow Christians live very opulently, without giving a second thought to the poor or in need, while thinking that having as many children as possible is enough to do Christ’s work. We are stewards of the earth and over-population is causing suffering and inequality, not to mention there are kids who need a family on the earth already. There are people in need right outside our door, but people choose an SUV, or entertainment system over giving to the poor or environmental charities, while wearing there diamond crosses. They treat it like a club or corporation and it makes Christianity seem like a farce when so many Christians seem like hypocrites, and I sympathize with your feeling, I really do.

Still, I am a Christian and following a path of charity, kindness, and love has filled my life with immense joy. Try to find the true words of Christ in the Bible and see past the fear induced corporate Christianity that prevails at this time.
