My second third favorite monster out of the Monster Hunter series, Basarios.
I’d want to bring 10x Antidotes for this quest, you can buy them inside the Gathering Hall.
One of the things I noticed/forgot about is what armor I was wearing, I forgot to change back to my Ioprey armor, I was still wearing my Backpacking armor lol

I suggest you bring a green sharpness SnS or Lance, as a green sharpness GS/Hammer would just bounce unless you’re attacking the stomach and legs, which is kinda hard to do for some people considering the wings get in the way.
I do not suggest bringing Flash Bombs, as he usually does is roar while flashed and they don’t last too long on him as well.
Let’s begin shall we? Grab whatever supplies you’d like from the Supply Box, and begin to make your way to area 2.
You’ll notice a few rocks, and 3 Vespoids are in the area, but wait, no monster? The 3 combined-shaped rock to the right is the Basarios, I suggest you throw a Paintball at it to wake him up, unless you want to be daring and try to attack him head on. (:
Basarios has quite alot of moves, strangely enough, he’s not difficult whatsoever. He’s really fun to fight and easy to dodge/block.
His tail can be removed as well if you continue hacking at it.
Some helpful suggestions:
When he is using the Poison/Sleep Gas attack, you can attack his swings. Don’t jump in to attack his wings as soon as he unleashes the gas though, as it can still somehow manage to hit you.
When blocking tail wag attacks, which he usually does after he charges and you’re attempting to charge right at him, (3:23 in the video) you’ll have to face opposite direction to block it. So you’ll need to turn around while blocking, kind of strange, but hey, saves you from getting hit.
Try to get him to hit the boulders that are scattered through area 2, as they will explode and cause some nice damage and usually a stagger. Which is just another opportunity to attack.
The good thing about Basarios is that he never runs or leaves the area, so you’re pretty much set on killing him. What happens if you die? Where does he go? Right back in the ground, in a different location though, by location I mean spot, not area.
Farming Basarios is good for earning tons of good material, Iron Ore, Machalite Ore, Poison Sacs, and Med/Lg Monster Bones.
As well as, farming for Vespoid material, how? Just let him use the Poison Gas attack and continue carving the Vespoids that are hit by this. It’s a great/easy way to farm for Monster Fluid when you’re too lazy to go Vespoid hunting. (:
